Review, do not assume changes
Marriage does not mean every account must become joint or every nominee must change. Inventory accounts and policies, then decide what review is relevant.
Bank questions
Check contact details, address, name consistency, KYC status, nominees, standing instructions, loans and credit accounts directly with each regulated institution. Do not share OTPs, PINs or passwords.
Insurance questions
IRDAI explains that policy details can include nomination and address and that servicing requests may go through the insurer or, where used, an insurance repository. Confirm the process with the specific insurer.
Keep evidence
Retain official acknowledgements and note which records were accepted. Verify updated statements rather than assuming a request succeeded.
Scam prevention
Use contact details printed on the institution’s official website or documents. Do not permit remote access to a device or transfer money to “unlock” an update.
