Post-Wedding Address Change Checklist

Plan optional address updates across identity, financial, employment and household records.

General informationPrimary sources onlyRequirements vary

Decide what actually changed

A wedding does not necessarily change either person’s official address. Record which residence is used for correspondence, identity, banking, employment and travel before requesting updates.

Prioritise critical records

Review passport and travel plans, identity records, banks, insurance, employer, voter record, driving records and utilities. Each issuer defines acceptable proof and whether an online service is available.

Use official channels

UIDAI publishes its own update modes; the Election Commission uses its voter-services forms; transport services are state-selected through Parivahan. Check each source rather than reusing one proof list.

Maintain consistency

Enter the address exactly as supported by the accepted record, including locality and postal code. Preserve acknowledgements and verify each completed update.

Household records

Also review emergency contacts, subscriptions, deliveries and rental or property correspondence where applicable. These are organisational tasks, not universal legal requirements.
